The Whaling Wall, measuring six stories tall, is a fantastic marine-life wall mural on one of Bundaberg's highest buildings in the town centre. A local landmark, it offers great photographic opportunities from several locations in the Central Business District. Check it out on your way through town or wander past if you're staying nearby.

    1. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) is a large multi-purpose visual arts facility located in the heart of Bundaberg City, and is within walking distance to major shopping centres, cafes and restaurants and the Riverside Parklands.
    2. Moncrieff Theatre The Moncrieff Theatre is named after 'Our Glad' Gladys Moncrieff, world famous musical comedy star who was born in Bundaberg. Originally the Olympia Airdome, an open air theatre built in 1920, it was enclosed as the Olympia Theatre in 1955; refurbished as the Crest Theatre in 1973; and reconstructed as the Moncrieff Theatre during 1985 to 1987.

    1. Bundaberg Distilling Company Bondstore In 1888, the first barrel of Bundaberg Rum literally rolled out of the production line. 110 years later, Bundaberg Rum, through its trials and tribulations, has gained recognition as one of Australia's famous Aussie spirits. In 1986 the Bundaberg Distilling Company appointed its first tour guide and demand soon saw the need to expand the tourist operation.
    2. Bundaberg Railway Museum Bundaberg's first railway station, built in 1881 as an outlet for the Mt Perry railway bringing copper from the mines, is now preserved as a proper museum. Located some 500 metres from its original site, the museum houses a wide variety of railway items past and present.
    3. Fairymead House Sugar Museum Fairymead house, built in 1890 to an Indian bungalow plan, was originally the home of the Young family, owners of Fairymead Sugar Mill and Plantation. During 1984, Bundaberg Sugar Company donated the home to the City of Bundaberg as an Australian Bicentennial gift. Relocated to Bundaberg Botanical
    4. Hinkler Hall of Aviation Due to the recent weather events, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation is currently closed.

    1. The Bundaberg Barrel Next time you're in the Bundaberg area, add a little interest to your trip with a visit to The Bundaberg Barrel. From the unique spilled ginger beer flooring to bubbles in the entrance door of the tour, the barrel showcases Bundaberg Brewed Drink's most famous product - Bundaberg Ginger Beer. The interactive tour tells visitors of its origins, ingredients, bottling and packaging through a unique range of activities and touch screens. Doug and Vince's "Promised Land" holographic three dimensional adventure is not to be missed as is the free sampling of products.

    1. Burrum Coast National Park Burrum Coast National Park is a showcase of protected coastal lowland vegetation types: paperbark swamps (with cabbage palms - especially in the Woodgate section), wallum heaths and mangroves. The Kinkuna section features a narrow picturesque beach, low coastal dunes, tea-coloured waterways and flat sandy plains. Explore the Woodgate section on a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk across a melaleuca swamp or along walking tracks to viewing and fishing platforms, and a bird hide. Canoe across the river, go birdwatching your try your luck at fishing. Enjoy camping at Burrum Point or behind the dunes at Kinkuna (both four wheel drive access only). In late winter and spring, delight in the wallum heath natural wildflower show.

    1. Kinkuna Section Kinkuna section of Burrum Coast National Park preserves a wilderness area of coastal vegetation and wide, unspoilt beaches, just 30 kilometres south of Bundaberg. The Burrum Coast National Park which also incorporates both Woodgate and Burrum River sections is part of the Great Sandy Region, of which Fraser Island is best known. Kinkuna offers a true coastal wilderness experience for camping or hiking. Sand tracks lead through the predominantly flat landscape dense with vegetation and along the oceanfront.
    2. Lady Musgrave Island Dive Sites Lady Musgrave Island on the Great Barrier Reef is accessible from either Bundaberg or the Town of 1770. This 44 acre coral cay sits in a lagoon of approximately 3,000 acres with 14 world class dive sites: Manta Ray & Entrance Bombies, Napoleon's Wall and The Drop-off to name a few.
    3. Mon Repos Conservation Park Mon Repos Conservation Park is world famous for its marine turtles. Loggerhead, Flatback and Green turtles nest on an accessible mainland beach. The park is also home to Woongarra rainforest remnants, mangroves, a tidal lagoon and historic sites. In winter and spring, take quiet beach walks, watch birds or explore rock pools.
    4. Mon Repos Walking Track Mon Repos Conservation Park is the largest loggerhead turtle rockery in the South Pacific. From November to March, visitors to Mon Repos can witness one of nature’s most fascinating spectacles — the annual pilgrimage of sea turtles. Adult turtles come ashore to lay eggs on Mon Repos beach. About eight weeks later young sea turtles hatch and race to the sea.
    5. Sunset Track Part of a string of wetland remnants in the Bundaberg area, Baldwin Swamp Conservation Park is a tiny slice of Kakadu right in the heart of the city. Waterways here provide valuable feeding and breeding grounds for a variety of waterbirds and other wildlife.

Events

  • Exhibitions and Shows (14)
    1. Afloat Afloat is an event which will culminate in Bundaberg in early May and will include the construction of a large woven boat by artist Kris Martin, projections of digital stories onto the sails of the boat and a series of performances that celebrate community resilience. Food and drinks will be available on the day. This event is a part of the Afloat Project which was developed in response to the floods of 2010/2011 and consists of various Footprints which saw artist Sue Berry go out to 12 communities in the Bundaberg Region and develop a footprint project with each of them, exploring the ideas of ephemeral public art and of linking communities. There will be other various events happening on the day so come along and see the woven sculptures that will include iconic items that were seen floating during the floods. This event is an initiative of Creative Regions.
    2. AgroTrend Field Days The Rotary Club of Bundaberg will conduct their annual AgroTrend Field Days which is one of Australia's longest running field days in Queensland. AgroTrend offers exhibitors of some 30 plus industries, the opportunity to showcase their latest innovations for the thousands of patrons who attend each year.
    3. Bundaberg Antique Collectables And Militaria Fair The Bundaberg Antique, Collectables and Militaria Fair will be of interest to those who are collectors of antique jewellery, collectables of numerous varieties, antique furniture, bric-a-brac and also the militaria enthusiasts. This fair has been an annual attraction for 26 years, and is an eagerly awaited regional event which attracts dealers from all over Australia, bringing with them a wide range of antiques, collectables and militaria that is not usually available locally.
    4. Bundaberg Early Holden Club Incorporated-All Holden Day The Bundaberg Early Holden Club - All Holden Day will be holding their Show, Swap, Meet and Sound Off in early May. There will be numerous cars from all over the state including some interstate cars. It's a fantastic family day out with food stalls plus the swap meet, as well there will be a jumping castle, stalls, rides for the children, food stalls and music on the day, plenty of trophies in all categories of Holden cars to be won plus raffles.
    5. Bundaberg Million Paws Walk Get involved with the Million Paws Walk by enjoying a healthy walk, mingle with other pet owners and just have a great time. Funds raised throughout the day go towards vital services and campaigns undertaken by the RSPCA Queensland. The Million Paws Walk continues to be one of the RSPCA Queensland's most popular outdoor events for animal lovers and their furry friends. Enter fantastic competitions and end the day by relaxing with great entertainment, a variety of food and drink, exhibitor stalls and animal demonstrations. There will be a vet on hand to answer questions concerning your dog plus dog grooming.
    6. Bundaberg Orchid Societys Annual Autumn Orchid Show The Bundaberg Orchid Society's Annual Autumn Show will be held over the Mother's Day weekend in May with Bundaberg hosting neighbouring societies from Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Childers-Isis, Boyne-Tannum and Gladstone in presenting beautiful displays of different genre of orchids.
    7. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Presents “A Life Behind” Exhibition Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents an exhibition of black and white photography by Sabrina Lauriston titled "A Life Behind" exhibition which will show the story of the lives of people in the arts community in Bundaberg. The photographs in this exhibition have been taken with a Rolleicord camera and developed and printed in the artist's darkroom.
    8. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Presents “Port Of The Red City” Exhibition Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents "Port of the Red City" exhibition which begins in May and continues through until August. Haifa is a city as sleepy as it is ancient, known also as the Red City for its communist character and the philosophies of its inhabitants.
    9. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Presents Dreambox Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents the "Dreambox" exhibition. For the past 12 months ABC Open has collected the dreams of Indigenous Australians and over 2,000 photographs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders sharing their hopes and dreams have been submitted to the Dreambox project.
    10. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Presents Rod McRae’s Wunderkammer Exhibition Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents their next exhibition starting in May. One of the exhibitors will be Rod McRae's Wunderkammer, which explores an animal issue using real preserved animal bodies (taxidermy) to tell their stories.
    11. Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery-Petri Exhibition By Carly Scoufos Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents an exhibition by well known artist Carly Scoufos titled 'Petri' which creates a perceptual pull between two-dimensional sculpture and three-dimensional drawing and engages with the internal space of The Vault - beyond just the walls, floor and ceiling, but using the space between these surfaces. Her work explores the translation of abstract and fleeting moments within fluid phenomena, into woven constructions of industrial wire.
    12. Bundaberg Regional Show The Bundaberg Regional Show will have entertainment for all the family, including sideshows an animal nursery, displays of crafts in the pavilion, plenty of entertainment, including horse shows, cattle shows, woodchop exhibitions and lots of food outlets for everyone's enjoyment.
    13. Cure4Cancer All Ford Car Show The Cure4Cancer All Ford Car Show will be being held in late May. For all Ford car buffs this show will have a large range of Fords of different vintages so there will be enough cars to wander around and enjoy. This is a family event so bring the whole family along for a great day out, so make sure to mark this one on the calendar.
    14. Wide Bay Australia International Airshow The Wide Bay Australia International Air Show is a two day extravaganza for aviation enthusiasts featuring aircraft from a bygone era, including aircraft from WWII, right up to the present day. Held on Saturday and Sunday both days are devoted to aerobatic and other displays of aircraft from pre-war through to the latest RAAF aircraft such as the Super Hornet.

    1. Beerfestabull The Beerfestabull is on again this year, bigger and better then before. Last year's event attracted 12,500 people and the event is only showing signs of growing.
    2. Rise And Shine Queensland Tour The community made it through the severe weather that affected Queensland earlier this year, so now it's time to have some fun and celebrate the great community spirit as the Rise And Shine Queensland Tour hits the road. This series of free community events will feature a range of family activities, a free barbecue and a live entertainment program, featuring some great Australian performers such as Ash Grunwald, Don Walker and Roz and the Wayward Gentlemen, plus family activities and children's rides. Bring the picnic rug, gather up family and friends and come out for a fun day of entertainment!

    1. Bundaberg Police Citizens Youth Community Craft Markets The Bundaberg Police Citizen's Youth Club Markets are full of handicrafts and hand made trinkets. There are stalls that specialise in woodwork, decoupage eggs, cards, fresh fruit and vegetables and plants. These markets are held monthly and are well worth a visit.
    2. Mummas Nest Market Mumma's Nest Market is a unique shopping experience for the whole family, providing an indoor and outdoor boutique market style shopping, showcasing a wide range of beautifully handcrafted or manufactured products and service stalls.
    3. Sunday Markets At Shalom College The Sunday Markets at Shalom College are the biggest and best market in the area with stalls to explore for everyone. There are 200 stalls operating every Sunday morning where you can enjoy breakfast or morning tea from the barbecue plus cold drinks as well as coffee and tea from the canteen.

World Renowned Hand Shadow Artist Unusualist Raymond Crowe Enter the world of smoke and mirrors, of light and shade of World Renowned Hand Shadow Artist Unusualist Raymond Crowe returns with his new work of wonder 'Curiosities'. Be enchanted by his imaginative creations and collections of comedy, smoke painting, performing fleas, ventriloquism, shadow play and silhouette cutting.
    2. Bolshoi Ballet Le Corsaire Simulcast - Bundaberg Residents of Bundaberg and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to experience the world renowned Bolshoi Ballet in June, as Bundaberg is one of eight regional centres to receive a simulcast of a Bolshoi Ballet performance live from the Queensland Performing Arts Centre Lyric Theatre, Brisbane.
    3. Bundaberg Players Present Clue The Musical Bundaberg Players present 'Clue the Musical' which will be performed at the Playhouse Theatre in early June. The plot centres on a murder at a mansion occupied by several suspects that is eventually solved by a detective; the ending is determined by cards drawn by audience members who select the murderer, murder weapon and location of the murder.
    4. Bundaberg Welcomes Lee Kernaghan-Beautiful Noise Concert Bundaberg welcomes Lee Kernaghan back, stretching the musical envelope yet again with what industry insiders are calling another ground-breaking album - Beautiful Noise. Lee will be in Bundaberg in early August with his special guests The Wolfe Brothers. Lee Kernaghan has earned his place as one of Australia's leading contemporary music artists.
    5. Community Lifestyle Support Presents The Collective Community Lifestyle Support is proud to present, X Factor supergroup 'The Collective' for one performance only. The 'Collective' are an Australian boy band consisting of members, Zach Russell, Trent Bell, Julian De Vizio, William Singe and Jayden Sierra who originally auditioned as individual acts and after being turned away at 'Super Boot Camp' these five boys were called back to see the judges for one last time.
    6. Get Along Tour With Guy Sebastian - Bundaberg Australia's most successful male artist, Guy Sebastian is heading back on the road with his Get Along Tour and will be in Bundaberg in June. Guy is looking forward to playing songs from his latest album Armageddon, which was released last year debuting at number two on the Aria charts.
    7. Masquerade Cocktail Evening Under The Stars Saint Luke's Parents and Friends are holding a Masquerade Cocktail Evening Under The Stars in early May. Bring the family along and enjoy a great night out at the Masquerade Cocktail Evening Under The Stars, children are welcome and child minding will cost AUD10.00 per child. Tickets are available at Saint Luke's Administration office and include one complimentary cocktail, finger food plus enjoy dancing the night away to great music while your children are having their own fun!
    8. Moncrieff Entertainment Centre Presents Swan Lake Moncrieff Entertainment Centre is proud to bring you the instantly recognisable music of Tchaikovsky, virtually a signature of classical ballet and the wonderfully dark story of good set against evil, Swan Lake is one of the most famous and loved of all works, it is impossible to imagine the ballet world without it.
    9. Nutcracker Ballet The Russian National Ballet Theatre commences a tour of full-length classical performances of the Nutcracker Ballet in over 24 cities across Australia and they will be in Bundaberg in late September with a beautiful full length performance of one of the most cherished classical ballets of all time.
    10. Rodney Vincent Show Bundaberg should get ready for the Rodney Vincent Show which is due in town in early May. He is one of the funniest entertainers, who will have the audience in stitches with his slightly naughty comedy, but it's all in good fun and a great night will be had by all.
    11. The Old Fella And The Barbershop Quartet Benchmark Moncrieff Entertainment Centre presents popular comedian 'The Old Fella' and the Barbershop Quartet 'Benchmark' as they get together to provide a unique evening of top Australian entertainment.
    12. The Sunny Cowgirls Music duo the Sunny Cowgirls have written a song that could perfectly describe a Queensland summer, "hot water comes out of both taps, snakes are underneath the tank, singlets and seatbelts are like a branding iron," is a line from their new album's title track, " Summer". The Sunny Cowgirls will be in Bundaberg in early May so make sure to go along and see the girls perform.
    13. The Sydney Comedy Festival - Moncrieff Entertainment Centre The Sydney Comedy Festival is hitting the road with a stellar line up of the hottest international and local comedians from the 2013 Festival. The funniest and freshest acts have been hand picked from Sydney's biggest annual comedy event and squeezed into one hilarious night of world class comedy, and the best news is, it's coming straight to your doorstep !

    1. Bundaberg City To Coast Community Bike Ride The City to Coast Community Bike Ride is not a race but a chance to have a relaxed ride and enjoy the scenery of the coastal area and the sea. The route closely follows the Burnett River before turning inland and continuing through cane and small crop fields, eventually making its way to the Esplanade.
